There have been theories as to what Tim Tebow will be used for this season, but now there is possibly an answer. Some ideas surfaced today that Tim would be used in the Red Zone to replace Mark Sanchez and improve the running game.
Rich Cimini of ESPN New York said:
Tebow will be one of the most closely watched players in the NFL…because of his role: What is he? The Jets say he’s the No. 2 quarterback and will be used in the wildcat package. …Team insiders say the plan is to use Tebow in the red zone, where they can replace Sanchez with another player/blocker to bolster the running game.
I think that, of course, he should be used as solely a quarterback. But, like he said himself, any way he can contribute to the New York Jets will work.
Eric Frenz of the Bleacher Report said that Tim Tebow makes up several positions. Whether it’s part backup quarterback, part punt protector, or part red zone replacement we won’t know yet. You never know, he could be all 3 by the end of the season.
